Introduction
Every year, Indianapolis is host to thousands of international visitors. They come to learn, they come to vacation, they come to watch major sporting events such as the U.S. Grand Prix and World Swimming Championships. The International Center contributes to welcoming all international visitors to our city and enhancing their experience. Many times, we are called upon to organize a cadre of language service and hospitality volunteers during major international events. The International Center has been proud to be associated with events that include:
- 2000-2005 U.S. Grand Prix
- 2004 World Swimming Championships
- 2004 National League of Cities Conference
- 2002 World Basketball Championships
- 1995 Rotary International Conference
- 1994 World Rowing Championship
- 1991 World Gymnastics Championship
- 1987 Pan American Games.
Volunteers agree that these experiences are rewarding and often fun ways to serve the community, make international visitors feel welcome and build friendships.
