International Center Announces 2010 Board of Directors

The New Year begins with a new roster of leadership for the International Center's board of directors.

Florence May, President, Simply Hospitality, will serve as the new Chair of the boardSusan B. Sutton, Ph.D., Associate Vice President for International Programs at Indiana University and Associate Vice Chancellor of International Affairs, IUPUI, will become Vice Chair, Governance, the seat previously held by May.

Also continuing to serve are Vice Chair, Development Jonathan Tempel, Thomson Inc.; Vice Chair, Operations Rajan Gajaria, Dow AgroSciences; and Immediate Past Chair Jane Gehlhausen.

The board's structure reflects the Center's new organizational stature as a 509(a)(3) organization, which took effect last year.  Joining ICI in this new structure as Supported Organizations are Butler University, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, the Arts Council of Indianapolis, and the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce.

A 509 (a) (3) designation by the IRS is based on a nonprofit organization supporting other organizations and its governance being directed by these organizations, referred to as Supported Organizations.

Representing Butler University are C. Monte Broaded, Ph.D., Director, Center for Global Education, and Brian Landis, Managing Director, Butler Business Accelerator, College of Business.

Dr. Sutton represents IUPUI, and Rodney Reid, Principal, RLR Associates, represents the Arts Council of Indianapolis.

Representing the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce are Gustavo Escalante, Manager of Business Advocacy, Hispanic Business Council, and Tammie S. Jones, Senior Vice President, Public and Strategic Affairs.

Other members continuing their service on the board are Stephen J. Akard, Indiana Economic Development Corporation; Swadesh Kalsi, Past Chair, International Center of Indianapolis; M. Jacqueline Nytes, City-County Council; Amy Minnick Peterson, Minnick Peterson, LLC; and Joerg Schreiber, Ph.D., White Arrow Consulting.
