The International Center of Indianapolis has been designated a member of the Green Business Initiative of the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce.

The Green Business Initiative recognizes businesses and organizations committed to environmentally responsible practices.

"We began early in 2008 to identify 'green' opportunities in the office.  The Center's staff was encouraged to brainstorm green ideas.  Now many of these ideas are part of our staff's daily habits and routines.  We've raised awareness among everyone on staff -- and have realized savings, too," said Kathy Humphrey, the International Center's Chief Operating Officer.

"We're very proud of this new designation that signifies all the efforts we're making toward a better environment for everyone," Humphrey said.

The Center was evaluated on such business practices as recycling, reducing waste, purchasing decisions, energy conservation and transportation policies.
