In an article that Albert Chen, Founder and President of Telamon Corp., wrote for the Indianapolis Business Journal, he points out the need for Hoosiers to understand Asian culture and history, as it is an important way "to learn how to effectively engage with the emerging economies of the 21st century in order to be successful".
Chen's thoughts well explain the purpose of the International Center of Indianapolis' newly launched project-the Asian Learning Center (ALC), an initiative that aims to provide Hoosiers with an educational, cultural and personal bridge to the Asian Pacific region.
"It is encouraging to see that everyone I have talked to believes there is a strong need for an Asian Learning Center in Indiana," said Stephen A. Zurcher, ICI's Vice President of Programs, who is also the Project Director of the Asian Learning Center . "It will help raise Hoosiers' awareness of Asian culture and provide a path for Hoosiers to reach out to various international business and educational opportunities."
The International Center will host a community meeting at 10a.m. on July 22 at ICI's offices to gather feedback from partners who are interested in implementing ALC in Indiana.
